9 January 2012
Dear Parents,
Hildan Chess Club (P3 to P6)
In St. Hilda’s Primary, we believe in providing a quality and holistic education for our pupils. Though the emphasis is on their academic work, we also like to encourage them to pursue their passions, excel in sports, uniform groups, the arts or sciences. The Hildan Chess Club is one such CCA that we aspire to help our pupils to develop a life-long interest in chess. We aim to develop in them good thinking skills, sharpen their intellect, build up good social and communication skills, enhance their self-confidence and develop their analytical ability, which are crucial elements for achievements and success.
Please fill up the form provided to enrol your child in this club. The school will be getting qualified and committed coaches to coach our Hildan Chess Club members.
Enrolment fees to be members of the Hildan Chess Club will be
$126 for 21 sessions in 2012 (P3 – P5 pupils).
$78 for 13 sessions in Semester 1 for P6 pupils.
Kindly issue a crossed cheque made payable to “St. Hilda’s Primary School” and return the application forms to Ms Teo Yixin or Mr Christopher Chin for P3 to P6 members. Please indicate your child’s name and class behind the cheque. Please also note that after registration, there will not be a refund if you decide to withdraw your child from the Hildan Chess Club.

63rd National Schools Individual Chess Championships
Our pupils put up a tough fight against strong competition from other schools and in the true spirit of sportsmanship, they were never discouraged and they fought hard to the end in each game. After seven rounds, with a score of 4.5 points (1.5 points behind the winner), Chugh Ashish (Open U10) finished 23rd in a field of 92. Asfia Khalique (Girls U9) and Chugh Anshul (Girls U9) finished 12th and 13th respectively. Most importantly, our pupils walked away from the tournament with an enriching experience.
SHPS Chess Club teachers would like to applaud our pupils for their hard work and thank our parent volunteers for their help.
